The intake air temperature (IAT) sensor on your Freelander detects the temperature of the incoming air stream. It provides a signal that enables the ECM to adjust ignition timing and fuelling quantity according to this temperature, to give optimum performance, drivability and emissions.
If your IAT sensor fails your Freelander will continue to run. The ECM will substitute a default value to run the engine, but adaptive fuelling will be disabled.

I have a similar problem – the engine was changed at some point (td4) and the air intake temp sensor is in place on the pipe work but the wires have been cut and it’s not obvious where they join the loom -any ideas

Freelander TD4, electric mirrors fail to work properly. Not only will they not fold back properly they will not lock in place and have to be moved by hand. I have had to tape the near side in place and adjust the offside by hand. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Dudley
Hi Dudley,
Try changing the adjusting switch which is used to set the mirrors as this is likely to be the problem.

Not something we have tried I’m afraid so we are not sure which, if any, six gear gearbox would work on the Freelander 1.
