This sounds like an issue with the clutch hydraulics. You could try changing the master cylinder first and seeing if this solves the problem, otherwise unfortunately it is a case of removing the gearbox to change the slave cylinder, in which case it would be worth changing the clutch itself at the same time. We would strongly recommend only using genuine Land Rover hydraulics, the aftermarket ones tend to give a lot of problems.

My td4 2002 sruggles to go into 1st or reverse when stationary yet goes in perfect when moving.
