Have you replaced an ABS sensor and found the warning light is still illuminated, even after resetting the code?
This is because the ABS sensor will not generate a reading until the Freelander is travelling between 2-5 mph. So to get the new sensor to register the wheel will need to be spun by hand.
The ABS sensors on the later Freelanders are magnetic and generate an alternating current that increases in frequency and amplitude when the wheel speed increases. By spinning the wheel by hand the sensor generates a current, which will be picked up by the ECU. This will ensure that the sensor is registered and the light will go out.
Hello here,
I need help. My freelander td4 2005 model reduced power significantly after changing the left CV. Suddenlly, TC, hill descent, ABS and engine check lights were activated. Later on, it developed a hard start….then started cutting off randomly.
What could be the real issue(s)?
Hello Kalonga,
You need to retrace what you touched when you changed the left CV ensuring everything is connected correctly and no damage occurred.
All the best,
Sue
My freelander1.autonatic, The hill decent warning light is staying on and F4 is flashing up. I have lagging power and not changing gear. Any advice on what this could be please? I have had a couple of mechanics put it on a machine possible brake switch? They tried to clear fault but as soon as you put it in drive the fault appears again
Hello T. Horn,
The F4 flashing is normally a gearbox issue. If the diagnostics are highlighting the brake light switch then this should account for the TC light being on, it may account for the flashing F4 but this could be a separate issue.
Change the brake light switch (which is situated under the brake pedal) and let us know if it has also cured the flashing F4. If it does not cure the F4 try putting it on diagnostics again.
All the best,
Sue

failed mot –turn on 3 lights on —don’t go out till driving down the road while moving switch off and back on and everything works perfect–turn off again and switch back on and 3 lights back on —had all sensors –brake switch — g sensor replaced
Hi Martin,
Did you put it on diagnostics?
Have you changed the wheel speed sensors?
Have you checked the wiring underneath the gearstick gaiter for chaffs or breaks?
All the best,
Sue

diagnositic say nowts wrong its as if not the power to turn off lights when turned on ok when moving —–looks like more expense changing sensors and rings
Hi Martin,
Given that they come on when you press the brake the first thing to try is the brake light switch.

my 3 amigos work fine for months then you brake and there back on usally a week before they start working normally again without touching anything
one big problem there back on and next week needs a mot which I wont pass with lights on any advise martin
Hi Martin,
If they come on when you brake then it is likely to be a faulty brake pedal switch, which is located at the brake pedal. Changing this should sort the problem out.
All the best,
Sue

brake switch–hill decent sensior near handbrake all replaced diagnosic says no fault but light wont go out when turn ignition on
Norbert/ Sue i did take it for a short run to no avail and the 3 amigo lights stayed on. Am at a loss of whats going on?? I need some help please.
Sue, After leaving my Freelander on the drive to sort the coolant flush out and to change the air filter, which i have just re fitted the engine cover. Then switched the engine on only to find the 3 amigos lights to stay on!! Surely just leaving it on the drive cant kill the sensor or does it????? So i guess i shouldnt be driving it??? Only had it for 2 months and now wishing i’d never bought it.
Can you Please let me know what i should do as i think its going to be yet another money pit.
Andy 🙁
